Maine Grouse Hunting
Nothing compares to a crisp fall October morning in the woods of northern Maine. Nothing except hunting Grouse and Woodcock with a finely trained Pointer.
The remote and undeveloped land in Maine sports thousands of acres of tremendous upland bird cover. Much of which never sees a dog or a gun. Alder flats, young early-succesional poplar, abandoned farmland and apple orchards all provide great cover and wingshooting opportunities for both Grouse and Woodcock.
A typical day of guided upland bird hunting begins at our lodge, where you'll have a hearty home cooked breakfast. We'll load the dogs and travel a short distance to one of many nearby bird covers. There will always be time to enjoy the scenery or take that photo of a Maine Moose. We'll take a lunch break mid-day and finish hunting in time to return to the lodge where you can relax before dinner.
You may hunt with your own dogs if you wish or hunt with our trained English Pointers. Our rates include fully guided hunts with our dogs, guided hunts with your dogs, or self-guided. All packages include meals and lodging.
About Our Dogs
Our English pointers follow blood lines from national champions Cowboy and Whitesnake, undisputedly some of the best bird hunting dogs in the country. Wadleigh Mountain Camps has worked with one of the top dog trainers in the business, Garry Malzone from Indian Creek Kennels. Our dogs are well trained, in great shape and hard to beat.
